In order to prevent any health issues associated with STDs, it is important to get tested often, especially if you have multiple sexual partners.
HPV is passed on through genital (skin-to-skin) contact, most often during sexual intercourse. Gardasil 9 is an HPV vaccine that helps protect against 9 types of HPV. In girls and women ages 9 to 45, Gardasil 9 helps protect against 7 types of HPV that cause about 90% of cervical cancer cases, and 2 additional types that cause about 90% of genital warts cases. A Pap smear is a screening test that checks for cervical cell changes caused by HPV and helps detect cervical cancer early.
The results for bacterial STDs such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea typically appear within approximately 3 days after exposure. For blood-borne or type-specific STDs such as HIV, Herpes, Hepatitis, and Syphilis, results may take approximately 2 weeks or longer after exposure to become detectable.
